Talking

Isaiah has really advanced in his language skills.  Our friends, Jeremy and Amber, came down from San Jose last night.  I had candles lit on the hearth and I heard Isaiah happily inform them, “Candles are hot.”

Yesterday morning I helped him pray and he did a great job.  I told him to say, “Good morning, Jesus,” and he said “morning.”  I told him to say, “Thank You for this nice day,” and he said, “day-doo.”  I asked him to say, “I love you, Jesus,” and he said, “wuv.”  And I told him to say, “Please help me be good,” and he said “pweez.”  It was really sweet to hear him participating in praying.

This morning we went grocery shopping together.  When we were checking out, Isaiah started gleefully shouting, “Dada!  Dada!” at the top of his lungs.  I said, “Daddy’s not here right now, but when we get out to the car you can call him, OK?”  He answered, “K.”

When we got to the car, I called Chris on my cell and explained what was going on.  Then I put the phone up by Isaiah’s ear.  He talked to Chris for about 3 minutes.  Chris kept asking him questions and Isaiah would say, “no” or he would repeat the word Chris had just said: toys, play, Chester, watch, Mommy, etc.  He told Chris it was “hot” and he also strung together a lot of words that we couldn’t understand.  It was so cute, because he totally understood that he was having a conversation with Daddy on the phone.

Sometimes you can watch him look around the room, looking for something to talk about.  He copies a lot of words as we say them.  I’ve heard him say Jesus, yellow, red, ear, milk, sit and lots more.  When he is ready to leave, he says “Go!” and when he wants to get up from his nap he says, “up!”  When he’s been naughty he will say sorry, “saw-y,” to Mommy and Daddy and to Jesus.
