Good Bye to Paul and Luke

Chris is taking Paul and Luke to the airport today so they can head back to Wales. They are taking a detour and stopping at Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz. Luke is interested in possibly attending there. He is a surfer and Santa Cruz is a major surf town, so it would be perfect for him! It was fun having the guys stay with us, but I’m sure they’re ready to get back to their British culture. I think they were about to get bored as we had pretty much showed them all the big stuff we know about in our area.

Our church really fell in love with the guys. Our youth invited them to their parties, and Luke spent the night at one of the guys houses. Paul taught our worship team some songs and played with the band one night. They were even invited to go over to someone’s house to watch the premier of American Idol. The kids nicknamed both of them “Wales.” I love it that our church, and especially our youth, are so warm and inviting. I think that is one of the pros of having a small church.

One night last week, we all sat down to dinner and Chris said, “Let’s pray.” Without even a thought, Isaiah reached up to hold hands. We always hold hands when we pray for dinner when we go out with our pastor, but we only do it sporadically at home, so I was really impressed that he had picked up on it. Chris has taught him to say “Amen” (I think he says something like, “ba-MEN!”). We all have colds, so Chris got out the oil and prayed for Isaiah and then he asked Isaiah to help pray for Mommy. Isaiah reached right over to me and took my hand. It is so sweet.

Chester is funny. He was playing with his rope toy this morning. When I walked in on him, he was rolling on his back with the toy in his front paws. He saw me walk in and he paused, still laying on his back, and just looked at me. His expression looked like, “Shoot… she caught me looking all undignified.”
