Worship

It was good to have a youth service again.  Two weeks ago was our lock-in and last week we didn’t have service because of Christmas.  Even though we see most of the kids at other church services, we miss getting together with them for our own service.  A couple of kids we haven’t seen in a while came back, so that was fun!

After youth service, the church had a “New Year’s Eve Eve” service.  We had worship from 9 PM until 12:45 AM.  We set up art tables and just let people soak.  It was a lot of fun.  Right at the end, everyone began grabbing instruments and jumping in.  Our school principal had brought his flute and trumpet, so Chris borrowed his trumpet and started playing.  Some of the kids had percussion instruments and tambourines.  People were doing interpretive dance and waving flags.  It was kind of fun to just sit back and watch everyone.  It was almost as if the church stepped into a new level of freedom right at the end.

When I was worshiping last night I was thinking about what Jesus feels like.  The best metaphor for me is the presence of the Lord feels like I am sitting on my couch with candles lit, soft music playing and the best cup of coffee in my hand: it is comfort.
