Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all of you.  I pray you will resolve to passionately seek after Jesus in 2006!

Chris and I had a quiet New Year’s Eve… once the kids were in bed, that is.  Isaiah had stayed up until about midnight at church the night before and he was very whiney all Saturday.  Add this to the fact that he has, in general, decided that the best way to express his displeasure is by screaming.  And when Isaiah gets all wild, Chester starts acting up too.

Finally we got them both to sleep and had some time to ourselves.  Our big splurge for New Years?  Fast food!  Chris went and got us a full-blown Wendy’s meal, which we haven’t done in forever!  It was good, but I’d feel disgusting doing that very often.  On New Year’s Eve, some people go drinking… we eat fast food.

We also watched a movie and played “Trivial Pursuit: The 90’s.”  You’d think it would be easy to remember things that only happened in the last 15 years, but it’s not.  We kissed at the stroke of midnight and then went to sleep.  Doesn’t sound too exciting (except the kissing part ), but it was just nice to be home and not have to do anything!

You may remember that Chris has been getting teased because he hit a deer.  The main perpetrator of the jokes has been our Pastor.  Last night Pastor was driving and he hit a HORSE!  The horse was fine.  It had actually ran into the side of his car and put a big hole in the vehicle and then got up and walked away.  It’ll make for some fun jokes… turn about is fair play.

We went to my favorite Taqueria for lunch today.  Isaiah got a little cheese quesadilla.  We cut it up for him and he would poke each piece with his fork, dip it in green salsa and then pop it in his mouth.  He is getting too big!  He copies a lot of words when we say them.  Chris told him today that we were going home and Isaiah said “ome?”  He says goodnight (“nigh”) now when he is going to bed.  He is also learning to identify more body parts.  He says mouth (“mouw”) and likes to point out where Chester’s mouth is.

Today it is exceptionally windy.  I’ve never seen it like this in CA before.  The wind is howling and making moaning sounds around the doors and windows.  It is totally freaking the dog out.  Chester keeps jumping up and barking because he thinks someone is at the door.  He’s driving us crazy and we have to repeatedly open the front door to show him no one is there.
